Although Delaware is the 45th state in the US in terms of population, it ranks as the 7th most densely populated state. In the past years, cell phone service has become a huge hit in Delaware. According to the US Census, in the year 2000 Delaware's population was 783,600. Out of total population in Delaware, 275,219 are cell phone service subscribers. Six years after, the state experience an 8.9% growth in population with 853,476 residents. In terms of cell phone usage, Delaware experienced 65.1% growth compared to 2000, with 790,189 people subscribing for cell phone service.
From 35 percent, the total cell phone subscriber percentage grew to 92. This is an extreme growth rate, and is also one of the highest in the US in 2006. The increase was so high, it was even 10 to 20 percent higher than most statistics in the United States. Majority of these cell phone subscribers are located in Dover, Washington and Newark; the three largest cities in Delaware. These three major cities has the highest population among all the areas in Delaware so it is not very surprising that it contributed greatly to the state's percentage of cell phone service subscribers.
Since Delaware's mode of communication is largely dependent on cell phone services, a cell phone directory covering the whole state would greatly benefit all the subscribers in Delaware. If not that, at least the three major cities would get to have a directory listing all the cell phone subscribers living in its respective areas. The sad thing is, that kind of directory hasn't been developed by any cell phone service provide as of yet.
So where could the cell phone owners in Delaware go if they are interested on looking up cell phone numbers? The Internet would be a great place to do that kind of search.
